RCB’s Plans for IPL 2025 Retention and Auction

As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are making important decisions about player retention and how to use their Right to Match (RTM) cards. After surprising fans by releasing some key players, RCB seems to be reworking its strategy for the new season.

Glenn Maxwell known for his all-round abilities, had a tough time with the bat in IPL 2024. However, his strong performances in earlier seasons, along with his useful bowling and great fielding, make him a possible RTM choice for RCB.

Faf du Plessis who captained RCB to two playoffs in three years, is another player RCB might consider retaining. Despite being 40, Faf is in excellent form, recently leading St Lucia Kings to their first CPL title. Whether as an opener or for his experience, he could still play an important role.

Mohammed Siraj a key bowler for RCB since 2018, was unexpectedly left out of the retentions. RCB might use an RTM to bring him back at a lower price.

Young talents like Vijaykumar Vyshak, Anuj Rawat and Mahipal Lomrorare also part of RCB’s future plans. If RCB successfully bid for KL Rahul, their RTM strategy will depend on how much budget they have left after the auction.
